Dr. Mark Berscheid obtained a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in 2007. After working in the oil and gas industry for one year he decided to pursue dentistry. In 2011 he obtained his DMD from the University of Saskatchewan. He worked as a general practitioner in Saskatoon for 2 years before enrolling in a 3 year hospital residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Manitoba. In 2016 he received a Masters of Dentistry from the U of M for completing his masters thesis which involved using micro-computed tomography for analyzing accessory canals in the furcation region of primary molars. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Erin Bokshowan is a lawyer with MLT Aikins LLP, and specializes in corporate law and tax law. Erin assists clients at all stages of the business cycle, from incorporation to winding-up, ensuring all transactions are undertaken in a tax-efficient manner. She has a great deal of experience advising professionals, including oral health professionals. She provides advice on the incorporation of professional corporations, the preparation of associate fee sharing agreements and cost sharing agreements, and the purchase and sale of dental practices. She also assists clients in general estate planning matters, including the preparation of wills, powers of attorney, and advance health care directives.

Exploring the Saskatchewan Opioid Crisis: Licit and Illicit Opioids, Poisonings and the Response

Dr. Peter Butt is a graduate of McMaster University and a Certificant and Fellow with the College of Family Physicians of Canada. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in a position dedicated to Addiction Medicine, and serves as a consultant to Mental Health and Addictions in the Saskatchewan Health Authority. National committee work includes the National Alcohol Strategy Advisory Committee, chair of the Canadian Alcohol Low Risk Drinking Guidelines Expert Advisory Group, co-chair of the Standard Drink Label Working Group, and member of the National Recovery Advisory Committee for the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse; and physician lead on the Alcohol Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral project for the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Provincially he is the physician lead on the Saskatchewan provincial “Take Home Naloxone”project, chairs the Opioid Advisory Committee for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan, and serves on the Health Canada - First Nation Prescription Drug Abuse Initiative.

Dr. Jackson has presented at all the major U.S. scientific conferences as well as to Esthetic Academies in Europe, Asia and South America and is past Director of the Advanced Posterior Aesthetics and Composite Artistry programs at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. He is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellow in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and a Diplomate in the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry.

Dr. Nekky Jamal graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 2009 and practices in Lloydminster, Alberta with a main focus in Sedation Dentistry and Implantology. In 2015, Dr. Jamal became a Faculty member of the BITES Institute based out of Vancouver, British Columbia where he lectures across Canada teaching dentists about incorporating Autologous Growth Factors in their general practice.

Since graduation, Nekky has travelled across Central and South America on 10 dental mission brigades, providing oral health care to communities in need. Motivated by his travels, he started the Quench Initiative to support clean water initiatives in Nicaragua through the Change for Children organization. Quench has fundraised over $100,000 to support community water wells since 2015. Nekky assumes a leadership role in the Change for Children Dental Brigade program while continuing to support the Nicaragua water project.

He received his Masters in Dentistry in 2018 from the University of Manitoba comparing types of intermaxillary fixation in mandibular fractures. Although he enjoys all aspects of surgery, his main interests are in Oral and Maxillofacial trauma and pathology. Get CyberSmart: Protecting your Practice in the Internet Age

Geoff joined the Canadian Dental Association in 2001 as the Manager of Information Technology. Early on Geoff had CDA’s first internet firewall installed and ensured the corporate networks were locked down. In 2009 Geoff moved to the Department of Clinical and Scientific Affairs to manage the CDAnet and ITRANS programs, the administration of the Dental Aptitude Test and the maintenance processes for the Uniform System of Codes and List of Services (USC&LS). In 2017 Geoff was appointed to the position of Associate Director, Practice Support. Geoff’s primary responsibilities relate to the development and operation of CDA’s Practice Support Services that include CDAnet, ITRANS, the CDA Digital ID, CDA Secure Send and the Practice Support Services website. Geoff holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts (geography) from the University of Guelph, a Bachelor of Education from Lakehead University, and a Master of Business Administration (digital technologies) from Royal Roads University. Geoff and his wife Jo-Anne have two daughters and a son and are recent empty-nesters. In his spare time, Geoff volunteers with the sport of Ringette, downhill skis and sails.
